A little time ago I got a question from an event company in Uddevalla named Upplevelsebolaget. They were wondering if I was interested in doing there logos as silver necklaces. Of course I was! That would be great fun!
We decided to start with the ancient kayaker and I did two different proposals so they were able to see how the pendants would look like. Happily they chose both.

För ett litet tag sen fick jag frågan från Joakim på Upplevelsebolaget, om jag var intresserad av att göra deras loggor som halsband. Självklart var jag det! Så himla kul!
Vi bestämde att vi skulle börja med den forntida paddlaren. Jag gjorde två förslag, så de kunde se hur smyckena skulle se ut. Glädjande nog så valde de båda.

Ladies On Tour

Two friends are going on a little walk-about this summer. It is called “the green ribbon”, a tour from Grövelsjön to Treriksröset in Sweden. The girls are going to be on the road for about 2 months and 1300 km.
To prepare, they ordered a necklace each. Maybe to wear like a talisman, I don´t know.
Anyhow, we whish them the best of luck and lots of fun!

Två kompisar ska gå en liten tur kommande sommar. Turen går från Grövelsjön till Treriksröset och kallas Fjällfararnas gröna band. Tjejerna tänker vara iväg ca två månader och promenera runt 1300 km.
För att förbereda sig beställde de vars ett halsband. Kanske som en amulett, vad vet jag.

Big Kayak – Stor kajak

In the late summer of 2011 a question came by mail. It was from Horisont kajak.
They, on their hand, got the same question from one of their customers, – Is there by any chance, a possibility, to order the same kayak he had just bought from them, but in silver?

I laughed when the question landed in my inbox. No… that would be impossible! Wouldn´t it? Or? Maybe not? Maybe I could try? It´s a whole lot of silverclay to a 20 cm kayak…

I started to do a model in woodclay. That one had to dry completely, for a week. First mistake… I forgot that when clay dries it shrinks. Luckily I had done the model a litle bigger than I planned.
Then I covered the model with silverclay. And again, time to dry. After 2 weeks I began to hone in on the dry clay. Some day later I thought I had made the perfect mini-big kayak. It was time to burn it!

I had contacted my teacher in silverclay, Johanna, and asked if I might borrow her oven to burn a 20cm long silver thing. After some measurment we thought it would work. It´s D-day, or B-day
We were both nervous, she had never burned such a piece and I thought of all the time I had spend on it. Oh, my god! So much smoke! I was convinced that there should only be a tiny ball of silver left in the oven, when we opened it.
Surprisingly there was a kayak! Not as good as I dreamed of but not as bad as I feared. Mistake number 2… To little silverclay in some places, the result? Those places melted down. Well home and repair.

In the places where there were holes, I just filled up with more clay and sanded. Then I went back to Johanna and her kiln. After the second burning it looked rather nice, but there were still some work to do.
This time I used clay with oil instead of water. It is a fluent clay and it won´t shrink when it´s burned. It was only some small fixes and I burned it with my hand torch.

Finally, there it was. A shiny big silverkayak on a rack made of driftwood, with a Aquabound Sting Ray paddle-model, decklines, hatches and a seat. I was actually rather pleased when I handed it over

For the first time I have made some earrings made as kayaks.
They are a little smaller than the pendants, about 15mm.

Kayak Cufflinks – Manschettknappar

For the first time I have made cufflinks. A paddlefriend asked if I could make some cool cufflinks for him with a kayak design. So we sat down and sketched and bounced ideas.
After really hard work and lots of mistakes these were handed over some days ago. At last I was satisfied and I think Christian was too

För första gången har jag gjort manschettknappar. En paddelkompis frågade för ganska länge sen ifall jag ville göra några häftiga/fina/annorlunda/tjusiga manschettknappar åt honom. Vi satt ner, skissade och bollade idéer.
Efter hårt arbete, hårslitande och många fel och misstag så fick han dessa levererade för någon dag sen. Jag blev nöjd och det verkar som om Christian blev det med

Grannys necklace

- could you please make a necklace for our grandmother´s 70th birthday?

The question came from a girl and her two siblings. It followed – She calls us her angels and she loves butterflies.
This is the result. Their grandmother was very happy for her new necklace with a 45cm long ball chain.

Frågan kom från en tjej och hennes 2 syskon. Följande fortsättning – Hon kallar oss sina änglar och hon älskar fjärilar.
Resultatet blev detta. Deras mormor blev jätteglad för sitt nya halsband med en 45cm lång kulkedja.
